Rewriting love and pain
Studio Performance, 2004, Photographs and Skin Collage
Tissue removal with scalpel. This performance, was documented in photographs, blood prints, and skin collage.
The words "amor" and "dor" (love and pain) are written on my skin with scalpel, in each of my arms and later removed and placed on a sheet of paper. For the first time I combined a body modification technique to art.
Rewriting love and pain questions the concepts of the skin as surface and the different textures: the skin and the paper. While the words written on the skin are legible, after the skin removal an entire new language got created.
